Where to smoke
- Café terrace: smoking is still allowed, but think of your neighbours.
- Luxury-hotel smoking room: some palace hotels have a cigar room; call first, access is sometimes limited to guests.
- Enclosed public places: banned (restaurants, bars, stations, transport).
- Outdoors: since summer 2025, smoking is banned in many outdoor public places (beaches, public parks and gardens, school entrances, bus stops). Check the signs.
Rules to know
- Tobacco sales are banned to anyone under 18.
- Coming from outside the European Union, you may import up to 50 cigars per person duty-free. On the way home, your own country's limits apply: check them, including for Cuban cigars.
To end the evening
After a cigar, an evening on the water is a good follow-up: see the Seine cruise, or the Palais-Royal a few steps away.
