The offers at a glance

What you see

Housed in the former La Villette cattle market hall, the museum offers interactive exhibitions, a planetarium and, outside, the Argonaute submarine. The Géode, a polished steel sphere from 1985, is visible from afar. Our Cité des Sciences page explains access via line 7, Porte de la Villette station.

Hours and days

Sources say Tuesday to Saturday until 18:00 and Sunday until 19:00, with opening between 9:15 and 10:00 depending on the page; check the museum's site. Closed on Monday, 1 January, 1 May and 25 December. The Cité des Enfants area for ages 2-6 was being renovated, with reopening announced for June 2026: confirm before coming with young children.

Official ticket or GetYourGuide?

The difference is mostly about the planetarium and the Argonaute. They are described as included in the GetYourGuide offer, but planetarium sessions fill up: ask for your slot as soon as you arrive. The listing's reviews describe a museum that is very good for children, but with areas under works and no lift to the second floor.

How long to allow

A full visit can take almost a day with children. Add half a day if you also visit the park: see Parc de la Villette and Paris with kids.

Which offer to choose

  • Family with children under 6: the Cité des Enfants ticket, bought separately.
  • Visitors who want to see everything: the GetYourGuide ticket, with planetarium and Argonaute.
  • Budget: the official exhibitions ticket, without extras.
  • Rainy day: a safe bet, see Paris on a rainy day.
