The areas at a glance
| Area | Access to the Zénith | Strengths | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| La Villette / Porte de Pantin | on foot, 5 to 10 min | The closest, the canal | Quiet at night |
| Canal de l'Ourcq / Jaurès | Metro 5 | Bars, terraces | A bit noisier |
| Buttes-Chaumont | Metro 5 or bus | Park, residential | Fewer hotels |
| Gare du Nord / Gare de l'Est | Metro 5 direct | Big choice | Station area |
The area
The Zénith stands in the Parc de la Villette, next to the Cité des sciences and the Philharmonie: see the Cité des sciences and the park. Line 5 links Porte de Pantin to Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est.
On concert night
Shows end around 10:30 or 11 pm. Line 5 is packed when the show ends; walking back is possible if you stay nearby but the avenue is poorly lit in places, so prefer a hotel close to the station.
For whom, and for whom not
Good for you: a concert at the Zénith, a calm stay, the Canal de l'Ourcq. Not for you: if you want to see everything on foot in the centre; prefer hotels near Gare du Nord or a central area.
