Situation today (26 October 2026)

  • Today and tomorrow (26 and 27 October): no RATP strike notice found in the sources checked.
  • Thursday 5 November: the CGT calls for a strike in all sectors; no RATP notice was known on 23 October, so the metro is not announced as on strike (Sortiraparis).
  • RER: RER A and RER B are run partly by RATP and partly by SNCF; the 5 November SNCF strike can therefore affect them.
  • Demonstrations: stations are closed as a precaution on the decision of the Paris police prefecture, usually the day before, regardless of any strike.

Calendar

If the metro is disrupted

  • Automatic lines: lines 1 and 14 are driverless and generally run better on strike days; check on ratp.fr the same evening.
  • Alternatives: walking, cycling (Vélib'), buses and taxis; a guided bike tour shows Paris without the metro. Full network in Metro and RER in Paris.
  • Stations closed for a demonstration: trains pass through without stopping; get off at the nearest open station. Marches are covered in Protests in Paris: what to do and what to avoid.

Refunds and rights

On a strike day there is no automatic refund of a ticket or travel pass; for Navigo passes, Île-de-France Mobilités decides case by case for long strikes. Keep your receipts. If you have a train or a flight, allow an hour more than usual, and check the RER to the airports.
