The Philharmonie de Paris is the symphonic concert hall of the Parc de la Villette, in the 19th arrondissement. Designed by Jean Nouvel and opened in January 2015, it houses the Pierre-Boulez Grand Hall, which seats 2,400. The Museum of Music, in the same complex, has its own page.

Its skin of aluminium birds and angular volumes rise above the ring road and the Parc de la Villette. You can walk around it freely.

The Grand Hall

Suspended balconies almost surround the stage, bringing musicians and audience close together. Guided tours of the building open up spaces normally closed to the public.

Tips

Guided tours of the building run all year; depending on the season and programming, they can include backstage areas, dressing rooms and the technical catwalks above the hall. The rooftop belvedere was free in 2026 from 28 March to mid-September, Wednesday to Sunday from noon to 8 pm, and closed in winter (information checked in October 2026). Do not miss the Museum of Music.
