Luxury car with chauffeur
This private day lasts about 12 hours and costs about $886. You set the route, for example Chambord and Chenonceau with a stop at Amboise. Extra hours cost €90 per hour. The listing contradicts itself on château tickets (included in the list, "not included" in the notes): get confirmation before paying.
Small-group minivan with winery
This minivan (7 people maximum) lasts about 13 hours for about $314 and includes tickets to three châteaux and a tasting. It is rated 4.3 out of 5. The title mentions Blois and Amboise but the itinerary lists Chambord, Amboise and Chenonceau, and one traveller says the winery stop did not happen: check these points.
Châteaux and wine tasting by minibus
This minibus costs about $312 and is rated 4.8 out of 5 (41 reviews). It visits Chenonceau and Chambord, or Amboise depending on the day, with a guided tasting and an optional lunch.
Small group: Chambord, Chenonceau, Amboise
This tour shows 4.9 from 277 reviews, about $276, free cancellation up to 24 hours before and about 12 hours. It includes a 15-minute tasting. One traveller regrets having only one hour at Chambord, the largest château.
Guided coach, Chambord and Chenonceau
This coach is the most booked of the selection (4.7 from 2,216 reviews) and the cheapest, about $130. It visits two châteaux, with lunch on your own in Blois. Until 31 December 2026 the tasting is included; from 1 January 2027 it becomes optional.
Doing it on your own
- Train: the TGV Paris-Montparnasse to Saint-Pierre-des-Corps (Tours) takes about 1 hour, then a regional train to Chenonceaux station about 25 minutes, according to the Chenonceau website. Chambord has no station: you need a bus or taxi from Blois.
- Car: about 2 hours on the A10 to Chenonceau (exits Blois or Amboise). To rent a car, you can compare car rental offers.
- Chambord: château and gardens open 9 am to 6 pm from 28 March to 25 October 2026, then 9 am to 5 pm until 18 December. The price is €21 to €31 depending on residence (valid until 31 December 2026); see the official site chambord.org.
- For the station, see Paris train stations.
What is not included and the pitfalls
- Very long day: 12 to 13 hours including about 5 hours on the road; each château often gets only 1 to 2 hours.
- Lunch: generally not included; check the listing.
- Tickets: vary by tour.
- Monday and Saturday departures: on some coaches, Amboise replaces Chambord in summer.
Which tour to choose?
- First visit, good value: the small group to Chambord, Chenonceau and Amboise.
- Tight budget: the guided coach.
- Wine: the minibus or the minivan with tasting.
- Couple, special occasion or family: the car with chauffeur.
- Two days available: sleep in Tours or Amboise and take the train.
