March, April, May: which to choose
March is still cool and quieter: it is the month of the half marathon and changeable weather, with lower prices. April is the month of flowers and showers, with Easter, school holidays and the marathon: the atmosphere is lovely but demand for accommodation is high. May is the most pleasant for walking, picnicking on the Seine quays and enjoying the terraces of the Marais, with longer days.
What to do in spring
- The gardens: Tuileries, Luxembourg and Jardin des Plantes. See the Tuileries Garden and Jardin des Plantes pages.
- Walks: picnics on the quays, bike rides on the pedestrian riverbanks, sunny terraces.
- Events: the Foire du Trône in the Bois de Vincennes (see the Bois de Vincennes), the marathon (see our Paris marathon page) and Easter (Easter in Paris).
How to dress and book
Take layers (shirt, jumper, jacket) and a light rain jacket: mornings are cool, afternoons milder. Book accommodation and monument tickets ahead for Easter, April weekends and the marathon. Month by month, our guides what to do in Paris in March, in April and in May detail the dates and ideas.
