Louis XV ordered the Petit Trianon in 1758 from the architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel, completed in 1768; Louis XVI gave it to Marie-Antoinette, who turned the gardens into an Anglo-Oriental garden. The Queen's Hamlet, designed by Richard Mique between 1783 and 1786, is a model village around a lake. See also the Palace of Versailles page.
