Small group of 8
This tour is rated 4.9 out of 5 from 756 reviews, at about $303. It lasts about 12 h with a live guide (in English), 8 travelers at most and a return to Paris around 8 pm, depending on traffic. Meals and tips are not included. The Overlord Museum may be replaced by the American cemetery visitor center if it closes. Some travelers would like more time at Omaha and less at the cider tasting.
Coach day with guide
This day is the most reviewed: 4.6 out of 5 from 592 reviews, at about $192. Travelers mention Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, Juno Beach and the American cemetery, and praise the guide. Lunch is offered as an option. Several find the stops too quick, especially at Omaha.
Coach day with lunch
This day with lunch is rated 4.6 out of 5 from 167 reviews, at about $171. It includes a lunch (fish and chips, ham or pizza according to reviews) and a cider tasting. One traveler found the prepaid meal disappointing, others enjoyed it; another counted about 12 h 30 round trip from Paris.
What is not included and the pitfalls
- The road: about 3 h each way from Paris. Stops are therefore short, and several reviews regret not having more time on site.
- The sites: a typical itinerary includes Pointe du Hoc, the American cemetery and Omaha Beach, Arromanches and Juno Beach. Content and order change with traffic and site openings.
- Remembrance: the American cemetery is a place of remembrance. Entry is free with no booking, per the official site (ABMC), from 9 am to 5 pm every day except 25 December and 1 January; last entry half an hour before closing. Dress simply and keep your voice low.
- Meals: they are often extra; quality varies according to reviews.
- Combined tours: some offers pair Mont-Saint-Michel and the D-Day beaches on the same day. It is a very long day; better to separate them, see our Mont-Saint-Michel guide.
- Cancellation: conditions vary by offer, read them before paying.
Going on your own (train)
It is doable but slow: the sites are scattered along the coast.
- The train: Paris Saint-Lazare to Bayeux direct, about 2 h 15 according to August 2026 timetables (TER and Intercités; check SNCF Connect). Sleeping in Bayeux lets you start early.
- Without a car: Nomad bus line 120 links Bayeux with the American cemetery and Omaha Beach for €3.90 per trip according to Frommer's, but departures are infrequent (check nomad.normandie.fr).
- Guided visit on site: half-days from Bayeux cost about €75 to €87 per adult (Arromanches, Omaha Beach, American cemetery, Pointe du Hoc, per Frommer's).
- By car: the most flexible, but plan two days so you are not rushed. To rent a car, you can compare car rental offers.

Which tour to choose?
- You want the best value: the small group of 8 (about $303).
- Reasonable budget, bigger coach: the coach day with guide (about $192) or with lunch (about $171).
- Family wanting its own pace: the private tour (about $1,741 for 6).
- More time, less road: sleep in Bayeux, or compare with Mont-Saint-Michel for another day.
