Calculation examples
A couple (2 adults) for 4 nights in a 3-star: 4 × 2 × 5.53 € = 44.24 €. The same couple for 3 nights in a 4-star: 3 × 2 × 8.45 € = 50.70 €.
How it is paid
The tax is collected by the hotel or the platform and appears on the invoice; it is often shown separately from the room price. Check whether the displayed price is "taxes included" before comparing two offers. Minors are exempt.
Which plan to reduce it
You cannot avoid it, but you can compare: at an equal budget, a 3-star costs 2.92 € less per night per adult than a 4-star (8.45 − 5.53). See our Paris hotels by budget and our guide to prices in Paris.
Our tips
- Compare: always look at the final price with the tax.
- Keep the invoice: the tax is itemised on it.
- Changes: rates may change from one year to the next; check for your date.
