The fastest and cheapest way from either airport is the train or metro: the RER B from Roissy-CDG (35 to 50 minutes) and metro line 14 from Orly (about 25 minutes), both covered by one €14 ticket in October 2026. Paris is served by two main airports, Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle to the northeast and Orly to the south, both roughly 30 kilometers from the city center. The trip is easy by public transit, but the best option really depends on your arrival terminal, your budget and how much luggage you're carrying.

From Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG)
The RER B train connects all three terminals directly to central Paris (Châtelet-Les Halles, Saint-Michel, Gare du Nord) in 35 to 50 minutes depending on the time of day. It's the most reliable option since it doesn't depend on road traffic. The Roissybus to the Opéra no longer runs (it stopped on 1 March 2026); express bus 9517 from Saint-Denis-Pleyel (metro line 14) and buses 350 and 351 are the road alternatives, but allow extra time at rush hour.
From Orly
Since June 2024, metro line 14 runs directly from the airport to central Paris (Châtelet-Les Halles) in about 25 minutes. The older Orlyval shuttle to the RER B at Antony still exists but is no longer needed to reach the center.
The RER B, the backbone of the trip
This line connects both airports to the heart of Paris and runs from early morning until well past midnight. Buy your ticket before boarding (machines are available at every station) and keep it until you exit, checks are frequent.
The ticket, October 2026
A single "Paris Region <> Airports" ticket costs €14 (€7 reduced rate) and is valid on the RER B, the metro (including line 14 to Orly) and Orlyval; a regular metro ticket is not enough to reach the airports. If your Navigo pass covers the airport zone, you need nothing extra (Île-de-France Mobilités, updated March 2026).
RER B timetable
Trains serve all three CDG terminals every 6 to 15 minutes from about 4:50 a.m. to midnight, so after a late landing the RER B is no longer an option. The line can be disrupted by works or incidents, so check its status on the RATP or Île-de-France Mobilités app before you leave.
Taxi flat fares
The flat rate set by the Préfecture de police applies in both directions, with no meter: €56 to the Right Bank and €65 to the Left Bank from Roissy-CDG, and about €44 to the Right Bank and €36 to the Left Bank from Orly (Préfecture de police and Paris Aéroport, checked October 2026). Use the official taxi rank only and ignore touts in the arrivals hall.
What is coming
CDG Express, a non-stop train between Gare de l'Est and Roissy announced for 2027 (about 20 minutes), is not running yet, so don't plan around it.
Tips
- A taxi is still the simplest option with heavy luggage or late at night: flat fares exist between each airport and either side of the Seine, just confirm the price before getting in. During transit strikes, always allow at least an extra hour. From Roissy, the RER B drops you at Châtelet-Les Halles, a major interchange in the heart of the city. Comparing the options: for one or two people with light luggage, the train or metro is far cheaper than a taxi, but with four people the €56 taxi to the Right Bank works out at the same €14 each as the train and saves the stairs. If you arrive late or travel as a group, a taxi or transfer booked in advance saves you waiting at the taxi rank.
