Saint-Eustache Church: Great Organ, Keith Haring, Opening Hours and Access

Updated on October 7, 2026

Saint-Eustache church, in the heart of the Les Halles district in the 1st arrondissement, is open every day, with free admission. Begun in 1532, it combines a Gothic structure with Renaissance decoration, and its vault is higher than Notre-Dame's. It holds one of the largest organs in France and, in the Saint Vincent de Paul chapel, Keith Haring's triptych "The Life of Christ", reopened to the public in June 2026 after restoration.

The south façade, seen from the Nelson Mandela garden, shows the church's unusual architecture, begun in 1532. Richelieu and Molière were baptised here, and Mozart held his mother's funeral here in 1778.

The great organ has 101 stops, five keyboards and about 8,000 pipes. It towers over the nave, which resounded to Berlioz's Te Deum when it was first performed here in 1855.

Every Sunday at 5pm, a resident or guest organist gives a public recital. The console of the great organ shows the scale of the instrument.
