In the Hôtel de Saint-Aignan in the heart of the Marais, the mahJ presents the art and history of Jewish communities. Ritual objects, paintings and documents tell the story of cultures in Europe and around the Mediterranean. The visit combines this heritage with a seventeenth-century mansion in the third arrondissement.

The Hôtel de Saint-Aignan courtyard
This mansion was built between 1644 and 1650 by Pierre Le Muet. The façades around the courtyard offer a chance to observe the tall pilasters and the rhythm of the openings.
Objects of festivals and rituals
Hanukkah lamps, textiles and objects associated with the Torah illuminate Jewish practices. The route places them within the stages of life and the calendar, showing the diversity of traditions.

Admission costs €13, or €9 reduced, with an extra €0.50 online (prices checked in September 2026). Under-18s enter free; EU residents aged 18–25 enter the collection and foyer free but pay €5 for the main-building exhibition. The collection and foyer are free on the first Saturday of the month from October to June, excluding the main exhibition. The collection audio guide is included in French, English and Spanish.
