Updated on October 8, 2026

Every summer the Tour de France ends in Paris with a final stage that finishes on the Champs-Élysées (8th arrondissement). Since 2025, the riders also climb the Butte Montmartre (18th arrondissement) several times before heading to the avenue. The latest finish took place on Sunday 26 July 2026. The 2027 Tour, whose Grand Départ will be in Great Britain, is announced for 2 to 25 July; the full route will be presented on 22 October 2026 in Paris, and the finish in Paris has not yet been confirmed.

In 2026, stage 21 ran from Thoiry (Yvelines) to the Champs-Élysées on Sunday 26 July. The finish in Paris traditionally takes place on the last Sunday of the race: if the announced calendar is confirmed, it would be Sunday 25 July 2027. Watching the riders go by from the roadside is free.

The avenue hosts the finish line and the celebration of the final stage, in the early evening. In 2026, the City of Paris announced the finish at around 7:30pm, after several passes through the center of the capital.

For the second year in a row in 2026, the route included three passes along rue Lepic in Montmartre before the finish on the Champs-Élysées. The crowds there are dense and festive, with a different atmosphere from the avenue.

Tips

Arrive several hours before the riders pass to get a spot near the barriers: the front rows fill up early. The streets on the route are closed to traffic; check the information from the City of Paris and the Préfecture de police before you leave. Bring water and sun protection.
