The Fondation Cartier presents temporary exhibitions combining visual arts, architecture and other disciplines. Since October 2025, it has welcomed visitors at Palais-Royal in an 1855 building redesigned by Jean Nouvel. This address in the 1st arrondissement replaces its former boulevard Raspail site. As of 30 September 2026, the exhibition spaces are closed for installation; the next exhibition opens on 22 October.
Highlights
The Palais-Royal façade
Arcades and long rows of windows recall this nineteenth-century building’s commercial origins. Behind the façade, Jean Nouvel designed five moving platforms that allow the spaces to adapt to exhibitions.
The former Louvre des Antiquaires
This historical view shows the building before its transformation for the Fondation. It housed the Grands Magasins du Louvre, then the Louvre des Antiquaires, whose name still appears in this photograph.

Tips
Tickets cost €15, or €10 reduced; under-18s enter free (prices checked in September 2026). Book online, including free tickets. During the current installation period, the bookshop is freely accessible from rue de Rivoli; during exhibitions, an admission ticket is required to access it. Check the programme, as there is no permanent exhibition.
