Housed at 107 rue de Rivoli, in the Pavillon de Marsan and the adjoining wing of the Louvre palace, the Musée des Arts décoratifs traces the history of everyday objects and interior design from the Middle Ages to the present day: furniture, ceramics, glassware, silverware, jewellery, wallpaper and design. The route alternates display cases with reconstructed period rooms, and the large central nave hosts temporary exhibitions. The same museum holds the Fashion and Textile collections, which grew out of the Musée des Arts de la Mode founded in 1986. Being fragile, the garments and accessories are not on permanent display: they are shown in temporary exhibitions such as "Look! 40 ans de mode au musée", from 30 September 2026 to 4 April 2027. The museum overlooks the Jardin du Carrousel, between the Louvre and the Tuileries.
Highlights
Jeanne Lanvin's apartment
Around 1925, the decorator Armand-Albert Rateau designed the private apartment of the couturière Jeanne Lanvin on rue Barbet-de-Jouy. The mansion was demolished in 1965, but the bedroom, boudoir and bathroom were reassembled in the museum, with their panelling, light fittings and furniture.
The salon of the Hôtel de Serres
Created around 1795 for a mansion on Place Vendôme, this salon has been reassembled in the galleries devoted to the late 18th century. Its painted panelling, mirrors, chandelier and chairs show the décor of a Parisian reception room of the period.
Hector Guimard's Art Nouveau furniture
The architect behind the Paris metro entrances also designed furniture with curving lines inspired by plant forms. A bed and chairs by his hand are displayed in the Art Nouveau galleries.

Tips
The collections ticket costs €15 (reduced rate €12) and the collections + exhibitions ticket €18 (reduced rate €14), prices checked in September 2026. Admission is free for under-18s; 18-25-year-olds resident in the European Economic Area enter the collections for free and pay €10 with the exhibitions. The Paris Museum Pass also gives access to the museum. Suitcases and large bags are not allowed.
