Saint-Roch Church in Paris: opening hours, free entry, visit and access

Updated on October 15, 2026

Saint-Roch church, on rue Saint-Honoré in the 1st arrondissement, can be visited freely, with no ticket and no reservation; allow 30 to 45 minutes. Built from 1653 to 1690 to plans by Jacques Le Mercier, with a facade by Robert de Cotte (1736-1738), it keeps a rich decor of 17th and 18th-century paintings and sculpture. It is a working church: the parish itself reminds visitors that Saint-Roch is not a museum.

The facade, designed by Robert de Cotte and completed in 1738, opens onto rue Saint-Honoré, a few minutes from the Louvre and the Palais-Royal. According to tradition, bullet marks from the royalist uprising of October 1795 are still visible on the stone.

The body of the church dates from 1653-1690; the Lady Chapel, by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, was added on the north side in 1706-1710. In the 18th century the parish priest Jean-Baptiste Marduel commissioned Falconet, Pierre, Vien and Doyen for the decor, and the church later received works from buildings destroyed during the Revolution.

Saint-Roch houses many sculptures, including a marble Pietà by Frédéric Bogino. Pierre Corneille and André Le Nôtre are buried here, which makes it a stop for anyone interested in the Grand Siècle.
