Galerie des Gobelins: Exhibitions, Tickets, Opening Hours and Access

The Galerie des Gobelins (13th arrondissement) opens during its exhibitions, Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 6pm; admission €8 (€7 reduced), free for under-18s, no booking required. Located at 42 avenue des Gobelins, it belongs to the Gobelins manufactory, a tapestry manufactory: King Henri IV decided to found it, and it was done in 1601. The Mobilier National, created by Colbert and Louis XIV in 1663, was added to the Gobelins manufactory, along with the Beauvais and Savonnerie manufactories. Tapestry production has never stopped: about twenty weavers still work in Paris, and another twenty in Beauvais. They preserve the techniques of the past in their work.

The Mobilier National

Thousands of pieces from the royal storerooms and imperial furniture collections are preserved at the Mobilier National. Armchairs, writing desks, console tables, chandeliers, vases, and clocks... you'll discover numerous pieces of furniture made for Marie-Antoinette, wife of Louis XVI, in the 18th century, as well as for Empress Eugénie de Montijo in the 19th century.
