La Maison Rose in Montmartre: Address, History and a Photo Without the Crowd
La Maison Rose is the famous pink house at 2 rue de l'Abreuvoir in Montmartre (18th), painted by Maurice Utrillo. You can see it for free from the street. The sources consulted say it houses a café-restaurant, opened in 1905 by Germaine Pichot and her husband, the painter Ramon Pichot, as a cheap canteen for the district's artists; Picasso, Modigliani, Dalí and Camus are associated with it. Sources differ on some dates (construction, opening), which we could not settle. Allow ten minutes for the photo, an hour with rue de l'Abreuvoir and the hill.
