The Musée de Montmartre, on rue Cortot, is open every day from 10am to 6pm; admission is €16 (free for under-10s) and the nearest metro station is Lamarck-Caulaincourt (line 12). An art museum located in the 18th arrondissement, not far from the famous Montmartre hill, the Musée de Montmartre houses a unique collection of drawings, paintings, and posters that bring the history of the hill back to life. Widely considered the most charming museum in Paris thanks to its exceptional setting within the Renoir Gardens, it's not to be missed by any art lover.

Highlights

Maison de Bel Air

Home to the museum's permanent collections, featuring works by painters such as Toulouse-Lautrec, Modigliani, Kupka, Steinlen, Valadon, and Utrillo. The museum's route traces the high points of the hill's history, its bohemian artistic scene, and cabaret life.

Renoir Gardens

Surrounding the Musée de Montmartre and overlooking the vineyards, the Renoir Gardens offer an exceptional view over Montmartre and the north of Paris. You'll also find the Café Renoir here for a delicious break.

Atelier Appartement

As the name suggests, this is a recreation of the studio occupied in the early 20th century by numerous painters and writers.

Tips

Museum admission costs €16 for an adult during exhibitions (€14 outside exhibition periods), €10.50 for students and teachers, €9 for young people aged 10 to 17, and is free for children under 10; a garden-only ticket costs €6. A group rate is available for parties of 15 or more, in which case admission drops to €7.50. Good to know: culture vouchers are accepted. How to get there

The Museum is located at 10-12 Rue Cortot, and the nearest metro station is Lamarck-Caulaincourt, on line 12. You can also get off at Anvers station on line 2 and then take the Montmartre funicular, or get off at Pigalle station, also on line 2, and take the Montmartrobus to the Saules-Cortot stop. Finally, the Petit Train de Montmartre also has a stop right at the foot of the museum.
