Georges Clemenceau Museum

In Passy, between the Trocadéro and rue de Passy, the Clemenceau Museum preserves the apartment where Georges Clemenceau lived from 1895 until his death in 1929. Opened to the public in 1931, it shows the rooms as he left them: study, bedroom, travel souvenirs and objects from Asia. On the first floor, a gallery traces his career as a journalist, member of parliament and First World War prime minister. The short visit, with an audio guide, combines easily with the Trocadéro in the 16th arrondissement.

The study

The largest room of the apartment overlooks the garden. Clemenceau wrote here at a large horseshoe-shaped desk, surrounded by books, busts and small objects brought back from his travels. In the other rooms, also look out for the small Japanese incense boxes, one of his passions as a collector.

The building on rue Benjamin-Franklin

Clemenceau rented the ground floor of this building, with a small garden that cannot be seen from the street. After 1918 he received delegations and political leaders who came to consult him here. Today the plaque and the flag mark the museum entrance.

Tips

Prices checked in September 2026: €6 full price, €3 for 19-25-year-olds, students up to 30 and jobseekers, free for under-18s; on Wednesdays, €3 on presentation of a Navigo pass. The ticket includes the apartment audio guide in French and English. There is no booking and no online ticketing: arrive before the ticket desk closes at 17:15. A focus exhibition on Clemenceau and the sculptor Antoine Bourdelle is announced from 13 October 2026 to 27 February 2027.
