The Opéra Bastille is the main auditorium of the Opéra national de Paris, on place de la Bastille in the 12th arrondissement. Designed by architect Carlos Ott and opened on 13 July 1989, it has 2,745 seats and stages opera and ballet. A guided tour takes you behind the scenes.

Tips
The guided tour is in French only. Meet 10 minutes early at 120 rue de Lyon (artists' and staff entrance): latecomers are refused entry without a refund. Prices checked in October 2026: €20 full price, €15 for ages 12 to 25, €13 for ages 8 to 11 and jobseekers, €10 for people with disabilities and their companion. Not accessible to people with reduced mobility or children under 8; closed shoes required.
