Sainte-Chapelle: Tickets, Opening Hours, Booking and Access
The Sainte-Chapelle is open daily from 9am to 5pm (7pm from April to September); tickets €16 for EU/EEA residents, €22 otherwise, free for under-18s, with an online time slot to book. The stained-glass windows of the Sainte-Chapelle
The stained-glass windows of the Sainte-Chapelle are a true marvel. The upper chapel contains 600 square meters of stained glass, up to 15 meters high, most of it original. The windows are meant to be read from left to right and bottom to top: from the beginning of the Old Testament up to the rose window depicting the Apocalypse.
The Conciergerie
Built in the 14th century at the request of King Philip the Fair, the Conciergerie stands on the Quai de l'Horloge, right next to the Sainte-Chapelle. The palace was almost entirely converted into a prison over the course of the 15th century: you can visit, among other things, Marie-Antoinette's cell.
The Île de la Cité
The Île de la Cité, known as "Lutetia" under the Romans, is considered the "ancient cradle of the city of Paris." Ten bridges provide access to it, including the Pont Neuf and the famous Pont des Arts. Here you can also admire Notre-Dame Cathedral. Not far away, on Rue Aubé, the Marché aux Fleurs flower market is sure to delight you.

- There are two queues: take a moment to read the signs and pick the one that applies to you.
- Tickets: €16 for residents of the EU and EEA, €22 outside the EU/EEA.
- Free for under-18s, 18-25 year-olds from the EU, and on the first Sunday of January, February, March, November and December.
- Book an entry time slot online to limit the wait.
- A combined ticket with the Conciergerie costs €23 / €30, and Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral is a few steps away.
- All year round, classical music concerts are held in the evening: check ahead.
- After the stained glass, the Saint-Michel district offers cafés and bookshops a few minutes' walk away.
How to get there
You can reach the Sainte-Chapelle by metro; the Cité station is the closest. You can also take the RER B or C and get off at the Saint-Michel Notre-Dame station. Buses 21, 24, 27, 38, 58, 81, 85 and 96 also stop nearby. If you'd rather drive, there are two parking garages nearby: Harlay and Parvis de Notre-Dame.
