CDG to Orly at a glance

Check the airport ticket fare on the RATP site before you travel.

The public transport route

From Terminal 1 or 2 take the RER B towards Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse or Robinson and get off at Châtelet-Les Halles (about 35 to 40 minutes). The change is long (corridors and stairs): allow 10 minutes with luggage. Then take line 14 to Aéroport d'Orly (about 25 minutes). There is no direct train between the two airports. The RER B is slowest at rush hour, and the last trains leave around midnight: see the Noctilien night bus for the night. The network is explained in Metro and RER in Paris.

Taxi or private transfer

The Paris taxi flat fare covers only trips between the airports and central Paris: between CDG and Orly the price is on the meter and depends on traffic (the périphérique, A1, A86 or A6). A private transfer booked in advance gives a fixed price and a driver who tracks your flight. Compare in Paris airport transfer: which offer.

Which margin between two flights

  • Separate tickets (you collect your bags): at least 5 hours between landing at CDG and take-off from Orly. Count 45 to 60 minutes to get out, 1 hr 30 on the way, then bag drop before the desk closes.
  • One ticket: the airline must help if the first flight is late; ask whether the airport change is covered.
  • Strike or RER B incident: keep a fallback (taxi) and check traffic on the day.
  • Night between flights: sleeping near the airport is safer than a midnight transfer: hotels near CDG or hotels near Orly.
