Paris Visite vs Navigo 2026: Which Transport Pass to Choose

For a 1 to 3 day stay, pay per trip: a Ticket Métro-Train-RER at €2.55 on a Navigo Easy card or on your smartphone, or a Navigo Jour pass at €12.30 on days when you make at least five trips. For a stay of 4 days or more that covers a Monday-to-Sunday week, get the Navigo Semaine at €32.40, with the airports, Versailles and Disneyland Paris included (plus €5 for the Navigo Découverte card). The Paris Visite, from €30.60 for 1 day to €78 for 5 days, almost always costs more: it only makes sense for 2 or 3 very busy days that include the round trip to the airport. Since the 2025 fare reform, zones no longer matter for single tickets: the same ticket is valid across the whole Île-de-France region, except at the airport stations. Which pass to choose: worked examples

Calculation for October 2026 using the fares above, for a traveller who makes 6 metro or RER trips a day and goes to the airport on arrival and departure (2 × €14 = €28 added to the passes that do not cover airports).

The Navigo Semaine is the cheapest in every row, but only if your whole stay fits within one Monday-to-Sunday week; add €5 if you take a Navigo Découverte card rather than using a smartphone. A stay spread over two weeks, for example Saturday to Wednesday, needs two passes (€64.80): that is still cheaper than the 5-day Paris Visite at €78. On the other hand, for a short stay split across two weeks, such as Sunday and Monday, the 2-day Paris Visite (€45.40) becomes the best choice.

Common mistakes

Buying a Navigo Semaine on Wednesday thinking you get seven days: it ends on Sunday at midnight, whatever day you buy it.
Travelling without a validated ticket: since 2 June 2025, the fine for travelling without a valid ticket is €70 paid on the spot, and more if payment is deferred. Validate every time you enter the metro and every time you board a bus or tram, even with an unlimited pass.

Frequently asked questions

Navigo Semaine or Paris Visite for a week? The Navigo Semaine (€32.40, Monday to Sunday, airports included) is almost always cheaper than the 5-day Paris Visite (€78).

Does the Navigo Jour cover the airports? No. For Roissy or Orly you also need the Paris Region <> Airports ticket at €14 per trip.

Does Paris Visite include Versailles and Disneyland Paris? Yes, and the airports too, across the whole Île-de-France, from €30.60 for 1 day to €78 for 5 days.

What is the fine without a valid ticket? €70 paid on the spot since 2 June 2025, and more if paid later.

One price for the metro, RER and train

The Ticket Métro-Train-RER costs €2.55 for a single trip anywhere in Île-de-France, from central Paris to Versailles or Disneyland Paris. It lets you change between metro, RER and train for 2 hours after validation, as long as you don't leave the network. Buses and trams have their own Ticket Bus-Tram at €2.05, with no transfer to the metro or RER.

The airports: a €14 ticket

To reach Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle on the RER B, or Orly on metro line 14 or Orlyval, the Ticket Métro-Train-RER isn't enough: you need the Ticket Paris Région <> Aéroports, at €14 per trip (€7 reduced fare). The Navigo Jour does not cover the airports; the all-zone Navigo Semaine includes them (except Orlyval), and so does the Paris Visite.

The Navigo Easy card

This anonymous contactless card, sold for €2 at ticket windows, can be topped up at stations, at partner shops or with the Île-de-France Mobilités app. It holds Métro-Train-RER tickets (up to 20), Bus-Tram and airport tickets, the Navigo Jour and the Paris Visite, but not the Navigo Semaine. Each traveler needs their own. On iPhone and Android, the app also lets you buy tickets and validate directly with your phone.

The Navigo Jour pass

At €12.30, it gives unlimited travel for one day in zones 1 to 5: metro, RER, train, tram and bus, Noctilien included, but excluding the airports, Orlyval and the Disney shuttles. It pays off from your fifth metro or RER trip of the day (5 tickets cost €12.75). You can buy it on the day or up to 6 days ahead, and there is no reduced fare.

The Navigo Semaine pass

At €32.40 for all zones, it covers a fixed Monday-to-Sunday week, not seven days from purchase; it goes on sale from Friday for the following week. It is loaded onto a Navigo Découverte card (€5, in your name, with an ID photo to stick on) or into the smartphone app. It includes the RER B to Roissy, line 14 to Orly, Versailles and Disneyland Paris. For a full month, the Navigo Mois costs €90.80.

The Paris Visite pass

Designed for tourists, it gives unlimited travel for 1, 2, 3 or 5 consecutive days across all of Île-de-France, with the airports, Versailles and Disneyland Paris included: €30.60, €45.40, €63.80 or €78, half price for children aged 4 to under 10. Valid from 0:00 on the first day until midnight on the last, it is loaded onto a Navigo Easy card or a smartphone and comes with perks at cultural and commercial partners. Its weak point is the price: €78 for 5 days, versus €32.40 for a week of Navigo.

Tips

As soon as you arrive, buy a Navigo Easy card and a Ticket Paris Région <> Aéroports (€14) at the ticket window of the airport station, or install the Île-de-France Mobilités app to buy your tickets on your phone. Keep your ticket until you exit, including on the RER, where inspections also take place beyond the turnstiles.
Simple rule: 1 to 3 days, single tickets or Navigo Jour; 4 days or more running Monday to Sunday, Navigo Semaine; Paris Visite only for 2 or 3 very busy days that include the airport. Children under 4 travel free, and those aged 4 to under 10 pay half price on tickets and the Paris Visite.
