The tickets at a glance

Heights: 1st floor at 57 m, 2nd floor at 115 m, summit at 276 m (according to our Eiffel Tower page).

Who the stairs suit

It is the cheapest ticket to go up the tower, with a different experience: you pass right by the metal structure, stop at the landings and enjoy the view as you climb. It suits adults in good shape who tolerate heights. It does not suit you if you have weak knees, a small child to carry, a pushchair, or if you want to save time: the lift is quicker.

How to book

Stair tickets go on sale about 40 days ahead and lift tickets about 60 days ahead, according to one guide: book as soon as sales open for a slot in high season. Tickets are timed; arrive before your slot. A 2nd-floor ticket does not give access to the summit champagne bar, and the ticket cannot be changed on the day.

Before you climb

Wear comfortable shoes and take water. Go in the morning for fewer people and less heat on the stairs in summer. To compare guided visits and priority tickets, see our guide to the Eiffel Tower summit and our comparison of official ticket or reseller.
