Near Porte Dauphine, the Counterfeiting Museum has occupied a private mansion in the 16th arrondissement since 1951. It was created by the Union des fabricants, an association founded in 1872 to defend intellectual property. Several hundred objects, shown side by side as genuine items and copies, reveal the scale of the problem: perfumes, toys, car parts, leather goods and works of art. The visit takes about 40 minutes and suits all visitors from the age of 8.

The private mansion
At the back of the courtyard at 16 rue de la Faisanderie, the stone façade with its wrought-iron balcony and dormer roofs houses the museum. Take a moment to look at it before going in: seven steps lead up to reception.
The collection rooms
The seizures room displays more than 300 objects, often next to the original: compare labels, packaging and finishes. The small salon of art fraud gathers confiscated forged works, and the solutions room uses infographics to explain how counterfeiting is fought.

Individual visitors come without booking during opening hours. A ticket costs €6, or €5 at the reduced rate (under 25s, students, over 65s); entry is free for children under 12 (prices checked in September 2026). On the first Saturday of the month at 10:00, a guided tour costing €8 can be booked on the museum’s ticketing site.
