Luxembourg Palace (Senate): visits, Heritage Days and access
The Luxembourg Palace, at 15 rue de Vaugirard (6th arrondissement), is the seat of the Senate. It cannot be visited freely: it opens mainly during the European Heritage Days each September, and for group visits arranged at the request of senators. In 2026, the opening on 19 and 20 September welcomed nearly 23,000 visitors. The rest of the year, you can admire its facade from the Luxembourg Garden.
Highlights

The facade on the garden
Seen from the Luxembourg Garden, the palace overlooks the lawns and the great basin. It is the best view available all year, without booking.

The rooms open on Heritage Days
On this occasion the Senate presents places such as the debating chamber, the library and the conference room. The Petit Luxembourg, seat of the Presidency of the Senate, is also part of the programme.

The palace in its garden
The palace is best discovered together with the Luxembourg Garden, which offers views of its wings and dome.

Tips
There are no regular individual visits: watch the programme of the European Heritage Days in September, which gives dates and access conditions. The Senate also offers virtual tours of the palace, the garden and the Petit Luxembourg. Combine the visit with the Luxembourg Garden and an exhibition at the Musée du Luxembourg.
