Which area to pick
Strasbourg-Saint-Denis packs the most addresses into a few hundred metres, so you can compare two or three counters in one evening. Belleville is more local and stays open later, with fewer tourists. For a sit-down meal with full Turkish dishes, see our guide to Turkish restaurants in Paris.
How to spot a good kebab
- Look at the spit: hand-stacked sliced meat, not a perfectly regular cone.
- Ask about the bread: pide or dürüm baked on site is a good sign.
- For halal, look for the notice in the window and ask about certification if it matters to you. Our page on halal and kosher in Paris gives pointers.
- Opening hours change: confirm on Google Maps before crossing the city.
Going further
If you would rather taste several specialities on one guided outing, a food tour in the Marais is a more structured option.
