Tour Montparnasse

Updated on September 13, 2026

The Tour Montparnasse is the tallest tower within central Paris. As a result, it offers a unique panorama of the capital. If you ask a Parisian why you should visit the Tour Montparnasse, they'll tell you: because it's the only view where you can't see the Tour Montparnasse. It's especially worth going because the line is much shorter than at the Eiffel Tower, on top of a simply breathtaking view. Like all major Parisian projects, the Tour Montparnasse was heavily criticized when it was first built. A renovation project is currently under discussion. A backdrop in films for some, an urban planning mistake for others, opinions vary widely, but one thing is certain: the view it offers has no equal.

The Montparnasse neighborhood

The Montparnasse neighborhood

Often seen as a business and administrative district, Montparnasse is also Paris's Breton neighborhood. Here you'll find several crêperies, cafés and restaurants serving the best of Brittany's specialties.

The restaurant

The restaurant

The Ciel de Paris restaurant is beautifully situated on the 56th floor and offers a romantic, modern atmosphere. While the food and setting are impeccable, the service can feel a bit cold, and prices are high.
