Montparnasse Tower reopening: closed since 31 March 2026, best alternatives
You can no longer go up the Montparnasse Tower: the observatory has been closed since 31 March 2026 for several years of works, with no reopening date announced (as of 24 October 2026). It remains the tallest tower in central Paris. Like all great Parisian projects, the Tour Montparnasse was fiercely criticised when it was built. A film backdrop for some and an urban planning mistake for others, it is now the subject of a vast renovation and greening project that requires the observatory to stay closed.
