Montparnasse

Not to miss

For Notre-Dame and the Sainte-Chapelle, get off at Cité; for the Latin Quarter, Saint-Michel; for the Saint-Germain cafés, Saint-Germain-des-Prés; for the Catacombs, Denfert-Rochereau. Since January 2022 the line runs as far as Bagneux – Lucie Aubrac.

Hours and tickets

First train around 5:30 on all lines; last train at the terminus around 1:15 from Sunday to Thursday and around 2:15 on Fridays, Saturdays and the eve of public holidays (2026 times taken from Paris je t'aime, an unofficial source: confirm on the line page at ratp.fr). Expect a train every 2 to 5 minutes during the day. After the last metro, the Noctilien night bus takes over. A single Métro-Train-RER ticket costs 2.55 EUR (fare from our general metro guide, to confirm on ratp.fr) and allows changes between metro lines; for several days compare Navigo Easy and Paris Visite.

Works and disruptions in 2026

This summer the line was closed between Les Halles and Montparnasse – Bienvenüe from 6 to 24 July 2026 (works announced by RATP); normal service has resumed.

Tips

Gare du Nord is one of Europe's busiest stations and a pickpocket spot: keep your bag closed. Châtelet is a maze: follow the "Correspondance" signs rather than leaving the station.
