Not to miss
Get off at Versailles – Château Rive Gauche, a 10-minute walk from the palace. Trains with the "VICK" code go to Versailles – Château; check the display, some services stop at Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines or Versailles-Chantiers. In Paris: Champ de Mars for the Eiffel Tower, Musée d'Orsay for the museum, Invalides for the Invalides.
Hours and tickets
RER trains run roughly from 5:00 to midnight, with differences by line and branch (last trains often between 23:30 and 0:30): check the branch timetable on ratp.fr or iledefrance-mobilites.fr. Inside Paris the 2.55 EUR Métro-Train-RER ticket is enough. For an airport, Disneyland, Versailles, Chantilly or a distant station you need an origin-destination ticket at the zone fare: check today's price on iledefrance-mobilites.fr and keep the ticket until you exit.
Works and disruptions in 2026
RATP refers to Île-de-France Mobilités for RER C works. Partial closures were announced by section between September and October 2026; I found nothing dated for November: check the day before.
Tips
The ticket to Versailles is a specific RER fare (not the metro ticket): buy a return and keep it until you exit. Do not buy from touts in the street; on Sundays and fountain days the palace is very busy, so arrive early.
Official map
The official metro, RER and tram map can be downloaded free at ratp.fr/plan-metro (PDF and interactive map). We do not reproduce the map: it belongs to RATP and Île-de-France Mobilités.
