Every year, generally in late October or early November, the Salon du Chocolat brings together in Paris artisan chocolatiers, major chocolate houses, and cocoa producers from several continents, around tasting stalls and workshops open to the public. The event, which has grown since its creation into one of the largest chocolate fairs in the world, also features demonstrations by pastry chefs and often spectacular chocolate sculptures. The show is especially well suited to a family visit, with workshops for children to learn the basics of chocolate-making, alongside countless tasting opportunities spread across all the stalls.
A hazelnut nougat centerpiece on display at a stall
Artisan chocolatiers and confectioners showcase their most indulgent creations at carefully styled stalls, to sample or take home.
An assortment of chocolate-coated treats
Candied fruit, biscuits, and other treats coated in dark or milk chocolate are among the countless creations offered for tasting at the show's stalls.
Tips
Bring cash or a card for direct purchases at the stalls, as most tastings are free but the products themselves are sold on site at shop prices. Workshops for children often fill up quickly; booking online as soon as registration opens, usually announced on the event's website, is recommended to guarantee a spot.
