Filing a complaint after a theft

For a theft or fraud where you do not know the culprit, you can file a complaint online on the Ministry of the Interior's Ma sécurité portal, open since 15 October 2024; the form exists in English and foreign tourists without FranceConnect can identify themselves with their ID card or passport. For an assault, or if the culprit is known, go to a police station or call 17. In both cases, keep the receipt for your insurer. Tourist information and calling from abroad

Tourist concierge

Since January 2025, the Paris Tourist Office has offered a tourist concierge service, 7 days a week, by phone on 01 49 52 42 81, by WhatsApp and by e-mail (City of Paris, page updated in July 2025).

Dialling a French number from abroad

  • Replace the leading 0 with +33: 01 49 52 42 81 becomes +33 1 49 52 42 81.
  • On a foreign mobile, 112 works throughout the European Union, and 15, 17 and 18 are dialled normally once you are in France.
  • Special numbers (08, 3xxx) are not always reachable from a foreign phone; look for the matching +33 number or use the service's website.
